Shadow Box
Artwork is float hinged on a larger backer board and set back from the glass with acid free foam or mat spacers allowing all edges of the artwork to show.
Matted
A cotton rag window mat is the best way to protect valuable artworks. Adding a museum matboard behind the piece creates even more protection. Matting spaces artwork from the glass and can be designed with an infinite number of openings to suit any design. In addition, all of our matboards are acid-free or 100% cotton rag museum-quality, available in a wide range of colours and cores with 4 and 8 ply depths to choose from.
Object Framing
A deep shadowbox can house any number of objects from clothing, medals, awards, sculptures, masks, books, carvings, and matchbooks.
Floater Frame
Used for paintings without use of glass, the frame “floats” around the painting. Generally a ¼ to ½ space is left around the painting.
Stretching
Canvas is wrapped around stretcher bars revealing the sides of the painting
Shadowbox-Colour Interior
The interior of the frame is lined with a different colour then the backer, usually to add a pop of colour
Textile Framing
We approach all textile work in a Conservation method, hand sewn onto either a 100% Cotton backer or onto an acid-free backer board. Each textile requires specific finishing care and we are happy to advise on your particular project.
Mat Float
In this case the artwork is hinged onto the mat board and a second mat floats around it. Usually a space of ¼ to ½ is left for space between the mats. On another note contrasting mat boards also look great for this look.
Flush to the Edge
The artwork is generally drymounted (adhered permanently to an acid free backer)and framed to the image edge. An acrylic spacer is added to keep the art from touching the glass.
Matted Shadowbox
Artwork is matted and the interior of the frame has been lined with the same mat colour so the art sits back as with a traditional shadowbox.
