Nancy Clemo is a Toronto born and raised conservation picture framer, photographer, painter and collage artist. Nancy completed a BFA at OCAD majoring in drawing and painting with a minor in photography While attending school Nancy worked full time as a custom picture framer, shop manager and gallery assistant. The year 2014 marks Nancy’s tenth year working as a framer since beginning her career and training at a small framing shop in Toronto. Although mainly trained on the job, Nancy strives to supplement her framing knowledge by studying conservation framing books and attending industry seminars. Nancy is passionate about constantly expanding her knowledge of custom framing, as well as conservation and contemporary techniques making her a dynamic addition to the Akasha team.
Nancy’s passion for framing can often be seen in the unique presentation of her own photographic work, conservation methods as well as archival materials. Nancy is currently continuing her traditional photographic process; shooting on film and printing in the darkroom to create oversized photographic collages frequently depicting factories and industrial landscapes. Nancy has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions throughout Toronto and internationally in London, England.
